BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Branch County had two all-state runners at Saturday’s MHSAA Cross Country Finals which were held once again at Michigan International Speedway.
Coldwater’s Elka Machan was 17th in the Girls Division Two Finals with a time of 18:59.9. She is only the sixth Coldwater girl to ever win cross country all state honors. Meanwhile, Xochitl Garcia of Bronson was 11th in the Girls Division Three Finals with a time of 19:26.8.
As for the other Branch County runners who competed as individuals, Coldwater’s Kathy Potter competed in her third state finals and had her best finish ever in 43rd place. Bronson’s Abby Ware was 162nd. In the MHSAA Boys Division Three Finals, Bronson Luis Ortiz finished 108th.
In the Girls Division Three Finals, Quincy finished 22nd in the team standings. Harmony Harpster was 68th overall as she ran a season best time of 20:44 while her teammate Madelyn Allman was 104th with a time of 21:12.
