HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB)- A man who has been charged with attempted murder and three other felony counts after he allegedly shot his wife in the chest was ordered held on a $500,000 bond during his arraignment Tuesday in Hillsdale County District Court.
Gregory Lynn Cronk was arrested following an investigation by the Michigan State Police into the shooting which took place shortly before 6:00 a.m. Monday morning at a home on U.S. 12 east of Allen.
Troopers reported the woman’s injury was serious but it was not life threatening. They say the shooting took place during a domestic dispute.
Besides attempted murder, Cronk is facing two counts of felony firearm and a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
The Hillsdale Daily News reports Cronk claimed during his arraignment in front of Judge Sara S. Lisznyai that the shooting was in self-defense and that he was getting beat up.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday with a preliminary exam set for December 5, 2018.
