HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – Mubarak Said scored three second half goals as the Coldwater High School varsity boys soccer team opened Interstate 8 Conference action with a 4-1 victory at Hastings Tuesday. Anas Asker scored the Cardinals first goal with 18 minutes left to play in the first half, assisted by Shaif Ahmed.
Said got his first goal with 23 minutes left in the game, assisted by Abe Alhjaji. Hastings scored their lone goal just over one minute later to make it 2-1. Said scored his second goal with seven minutes to play, assisted by Shaif Ahmed. He scored the final goal with 1:04 to play, assisted by Mohamed Aljabaly.
Balal Nasser made two saves in goal as Coldwater outshot Hastings 18-4.
The Cardinals are now 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will host Marshall on Youth Soccer Night Thursday.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Hastings 6-0.
