LAKE JAMES, IN (WTVB) – A 78 year old Angola woman who went missing at Pokagon State Park Monday night was found safe and sound Tuesday morning thanks to the help of some high technology equipment
She was found alive and well after spending about 12 hours in the wilderness.
The Noble County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post that an exhaustive search by multiple agencies was conducted in the park’s vast wetlands and forest after she was reported missing at about 7:30 p.m. Monday night.
She could not be located and the search was suspended at around midnight.
A morning search party was led by Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers shortly after day break.
A drone from the Noble County Sheriff’s Department picked up a heat signature from its FLIR camera in a large swampy area about 45 minutes into the search. Conservation cfficers on the ground were sent to the location and they found the missing woman a short time later.
She was reunited with her family after being checked out by medics.
