COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Area Garden Club this month has celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a theme of “Remembering When” and “Looking to the Future”.
The club was organized in 1993 and its purpose has been to encourage interest in gardening within Branch County, to promote good horticultural practices, civic beauty and conservation of natural resources. At their Silver Anniversary gathering September 13, the Garden Club members detailed over the years how it has fulfilled its purpose with projects that have included gardens at the Tibbits Opera House and the parking lot across the street while over 2,000 daffodils were planted around Coldwater with many of them at the four corners downtown with the help of female prisoners.
In addition, a community organic garden was planted by members at the Branch Area Career Center with all the vegetables being donated to the Branch Area Food Pantry.
The Club meets every second Thursday of the month at St. Mark’s Episcopal in Coldwater at 7:00 pm.
