COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a Coldwater teenager was injured last night in a one car crash north of Coldwater at the intersection of Marshall and Jonesville Roads.
According to troopers, the 16-year old girl was driving northbound alone in her vehicle when it left the right side of the road just north of Jonesville road. State Police say the 2012 Chevy Impala struck a tree and overturned. The girl, whose name was not released, told troopers she fell asleep at the wheel. She was wearing a seatbelt and her airbag deployed.
State Police say the driver suffered minor facial injuries to her nose but declined treatment from the Life Care Ambulance crew that was dispatched to the accident. However, the girl’s parents arrived and took her to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital to be checked out.
The Coldwater Fire Department was on the scene of the crash for about 15 minutes.
Troopers say the teen was issued a citation for improper lane use.
