QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Another school record for the Quincy High School girls track team. Jessica Holcomb beat the long jump record previously set by Tammie Johnson in 1982 of 17 feet, three inches. Holcomb beat the 37 year old record with a jump of 17 feet, five inches. Holcomb’s record breaking performance help the Quincy girls defeat Concord 86-51 Wednesday.
Firsts for the night included Macy Allman (100 Hurdles), Nikkia Cronk (100 & 200), Breanne Reif (300 Hurdles), Elise Wright (3200), Makinzie Groves (Pole Vault) and Sarah Bostic (Shot Put). Quincy also won the 400, 800 and 1600 relays.
The Quincy boys were edged 73-64 by Concord. Orioles winners were Erik Butchart (1600 and 3200), Ian Trall (110 hurdles and high jump), Alex Pickell (300 hurdles), Evan Coon (shot put) and Caden Moore (pole vault). Quincy won the 400 and 800 relays.
The Union City track teams competed against Springport and Homer Wednesday night. The Chargers split the boys meets as they defeated Homer 74-62 but lost the Springport. Union City winners in the boys meet were Gavin Hooker (100 and 200) and Deacon Dey (shot put and discus).
In the girls meets, Union City defeated Homer 86-46 and Springport 99-26. Union City winners in the girls meet were Hope Austin (100), Bracy Swift (200 and long jump), Camryn Thomet (800 and 1600), Rebecca Maurer (100 hurdles) and Lillian Bambacht (300 hurdles and high jump). Union City won the 400, 800 and 1600 relays.
The Bronson boys were third while the Bronson girls were first in a triangular meet on Wednesday. In the boys meet, Reading finished first with 69 points followed by Jonesville with 52 and Bronson with 16. Nick Gates won the discus for the Vikings while Logan Fletcher won the long jump. Bronson finished first in the girls meet with 63 points followed by Jonesville with 50 and Reading with 15. Bronson winners were Jenna Salek (200 and 400), Xochitl Garcia (800, 1600 and 3200), Maddy Thompson (discus) and Alanna Mayer (pole vault). The Vikings were winners in the 3200 relay.
Boys Golf—
Lawson Tell and Brodie Mainstone topped the leaderboard as Quincy defeated Olivet on Wednesday night.
