CINCINNATI, OH (WTVB) – Major League Baseball is expected to issue suspensions for those involved in Tuesday’s ugly brawl between the Pirates and Reds in Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle told reporters the league was still reviewing video of the incident, which began when Cincinnati pitcher Amir Garrett left the mound to charge the Pittsburgh dugout and throw several punches during the ninth inning of the Reds’ 11-4 loss.
Cincinnati manager David Bell, who had been ejected earlier in the contest, could face a lengthy suspension for running onto the field and confronting Hurdle during the fracas. The two skippers had a frosty exchange when swapping lineup cards during the ensuing series finale, though both teams kept their tempers in check as the Reds won 4-1.
