COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater will be requesting Community Development Block Grant funds through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation later this month to assist with the development of an inflatable water park playground, beach and outdoor recreational facility on South Michigan Avenue in Coldwater Township.
The Aqua Pit would operate on a 112 acre lake which was the site of a former gravel pit.
The total estimated project is over $271,000. The C.D.B.G. funds will account for over $237,000 with the rest of the money coming from private investment.
An environmental review has been completed by the City of Coldwater. Since there were no significant environmental impacts, an Environmental Impact Statement will not be prepared.
The Aqua Pit would feature inflatables that are structured similar to an obstacle course, jungle gym, and playground. In addition to the inflatable in-water playground, owner Seth Berry intends on turning the lake into beach
Berry hopes the seasonal business will be ready for an opening in May 2020.
