MANGO, FL (WTVB) – A Go Fund Me page has been set up so that the mother of a young Coldwater woman who was killed early Saturday morning in Florida can bring her daughter home and put her to rest.
22-year-old Marissa Berry was struck by a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department cruiser as Deputy Andrew Hagenberger was heading to a traffic stop to assist another deputy.
The Tampa Bay Times reported Berry stepped into Hagenberger’s path as he was driving 55 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The lack of lighting and Berry’s dark clothing were listed as other factors in the accident by the Sheriff’s Department.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was not injured.
Berry was visiting family in Florida for the holidays. As of Monday morning, over $900 of the $6,000 goal has been raised on the GoFundMe page.
