UNDATED (WTVB) – 21 Branch County wrestlers will be competing in the MHSAA individual regionals today with hopes of advancing the state finals at Ford Field in a couple of weeks.
The Division Four Regionals will be at Hudson. Wrestlers from Bronson, Union City, Quincy and Tekonsha will be competing there.
Among them will be district champions Ben Modert and Ruger Ranney of Bronson along with Brayton Mears of Union City. Mears won the 103 pound title last week at the Division Four Individual Districts hosted by Hudson while Modert won the 112 title and Ranney took the 171 pound crown at the same meet.
Besides Modert and Ranney, the other Bronson wrestlers who made it to regionals were Brendan Withington (125), Issac Tappenden (152), Justin Blankenship (189), Carson Rose (215), Alex Tyer (285) and Preston Wronikowski (103).
Mears will be joined by Union City teammates Bradley Russell (119), Gannon Haddon-Imhof (160) and Brayton Burgett (285).
Quincy advanced Gerl Pish (14) and Chandler Locke (171) to the regionals. Tekonsha’s Rodrigo Barron will be competing at 125 pounds.
Six Coldwater wrestlers advanced to the Division Two individual regionals at Vicksburg. Griffin Olmstead (171), Carter Hoard (140), Dillon Minton (285), Marshall Hoard (112), Zeke Nowicki (130) and Clark Cole (285).
Also coming up today, Coldwater hosts the South Central Gymnastics League meet, while in underclassman basketball, it’s Coldwater against Pennfield, with the girls at home and the boys at Pennfield.
