COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The last day of operation for the Aunt Millie’s Bakery on Garfield Road in Coldwater will be this Friday, January 11.
The company announced in November that they will be closing the bakery as part of a consolidation.
Aunt Millie’s will continue to operate five other bakeries in the Midwest and they will maintain its Bakehouse frozen division in Coldwater.
Those affected by the closing were offered transitional assistance. Aunt Millie’s also announced in November they would have job openings for almost half of the 65 hourly workers at other bakeries.
Aunt Millie’s has five bakeries including three in Michigan which are located in Kalamazoo, Jackson and Plymouth.
The Garfield Road facility is the second one to close in Coldwater. Another Aunt Millie’s bakery on Butters Avenue closed in July 2011 which cost 50 workers their jobs.
