LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The daughter of a woman whose body was found buried near the front of her Leroy Township home on Friday morning is strongly denying she had anything to do with her mother’s death.
The body of 74-year-old Phyllis Lutz was discovered in the 10000 block of Four Mile Road south of Battle Creek just before noon on Friday after she had been missing since last September.
Authorities were called to do a welfare check at around 6pm Thursday night.
The Michigan State Police investigation is continuing and authorities say 45-year-old Marcia Lutz is a person of interest.
She fired back on her Facebook page Thursday night by saying, “what the HELL kind of monster do you think I am? DO YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD HURT HER? I may be a lot of things but I WOULD NEVER IN A MILLIONS YEARS HURT HER. I am so angry and upset that I am shaking.”
No arrests have been made but investigators are calling the death suspicious. Once the State Police investigation is done, a report will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office and they will decide what charges, if any, would be filed.
