COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Seven new members will be formally inducted into the Coldwater High School Hall of Fame Friday night in between games of the Hastings-Coldwater basketball doubleheader at the Coach Floyd Eby gymnasium.
You might say Friday’s ceremony is also a doubleheader after bad weather forced a cancellation of last year’s induction.
Going in from the Class of 2018 are Ashley Burkhardt, Gordon Mosher III and Troy Frick.
Burkhardt graduated in 2012 and earned 12 varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She also received the John Vance award as a senior.
Mosher starred in football and track at CHS before he graduated in 1996. He played football at Michigan Tech where he earned All-American honors.
Frick is a 1985 graduate who won seven varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. He still holds the baseball record for most strikeouts in a season.
Being inducted in the Class of 2019 are Kylie Dudek, BreeAnn Spangler, Eric Beckhusen, and Pat Lewis.
Dudek was a gymnast at CHS before she graduated in 2013. She holds records for all five events and was all-state three times which included a state championship in the uneven bars.
Spangler is also a 2013 graduate who played basketball and volleyball. She earned volleyball all-state honors twice. Spangler had a great career at Indiana State University where she is one of only four players to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. The culmination to her career was being nominated for the Prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Beckhusen graduated in 1988. Eric is well known in the football community for his abilities as well as his time spent after his playing days, as he has spent double digit seasons as a coach in the Rocket Football Program. He also competed in basketball and track as a Cardinal. After coming back to Coldwater, he has been a major cog in football and in facility and program improvement.
Pat Lewis from the Class of 1965 is being recognized as a special inductee to the CHS Hall of Fame for her contributions to Coldwater as a teacher and coach.
