BROOKLYN, NY (WTVB) – Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are teaming up in Brooklyn as they have signed free agent contracts with the Nets. Both players agreed to four-year contracts, with Durant’s worth $164 million and Irving’s worth $141 million. Durant and Irving both took less than their maximum guaranteed salary figures to make room for the Nets to add veteran center DeAndre Jordan on a four-year, $40 million deal.
The Golden State Warriors are making a deal for guard D’Angelo Russell. Multiple reports state the Warriors have agreed to acquire Russell from Brooklyn via a sign-and-trade for Kevin Durant, who announced plans to join the Nets. Russell has agreed to a four-year, $117 million deal.
As part of the deal, reports state the Warriors are trading forward Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies along with a package of draft picks.
Meanwhile, it appears Klay Thompson will stay with Golden State. Multiple reports state the two sides have agreed to a five-year, $190 million max contract. Thompson is expected to miss most of next season as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered during the NBA Finals.
