HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Director of Personal Health and Disease Prevention Yvonne Atwood told the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Board of Health Thursday that no additional whooping cough cases have been reported to the agency since last month’s meeting.
She reported in June that there were three probable and five confirmed whooping cough cases between May 1 and June 17, 2019.
Statistics presented to the board showed there were ten cases during the month of June alone. One case was in St. Joseph County and the rest were from Hillsdale County.
Since the start of the 2018-2019 fiscal year last October, there have been 19 cases reported in the three counties with 14 in Hillsdale County, three in Branch County and two in St. Joseph County.
Meanwhile, Atwood reported over 1,100 cases of the measles have now been reported around the country.
While the outbreak is over in Michigan, a new case has been reported in Grand Traverse County.
