COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Michigan and depending on where you live you may hear sirens go off Wednesday afternoon. If you do, it’s just a test.
Once again Branch County will not be taking part in the voluntary tornado drill Wednesday since the sirens are tested around the county on the first Saturday of every month.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared this week as Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Businesses, organizations, families and individuals are encouraged to engage in this statewide preparedness activity but are not required to do so. Nearly all state of Michigan facilities will participate.
This would be a good time to go over plans with your family in case the area is threatened by severe weather.
You can also be notified of weather emergencies through Code Red. You can register by going to www.countyofbranch.com and clicking on the 911/Central Dispatch link.
