DES MOINES, IA (WTVB) – The University of Michigan and Michigan State University men’s basketball teams are headed to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
U-of-M beat Florida 64-49 Saturday in Des Moines, while MSU topped Minnesota 70-50. Michigan plays Texas Tech Thursday in Anaheim, California. MSU will face LSU Friday in Washington D.C.
In a clash of larger-than-life figures, Zion Williamson drove right at 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall and buried a contested layup that helped top-seeded Duke survive against No. 9 seed University of Central Fliorida 77-76.
Williamson’s bucket pulled the Blue Devils to within one, then fellow freshman R.J. Barrett made the go-ahead putback.
Two last-ditch shots rimmed out for UCF, sending Duke into the Sweet 16.

Michigan was eliminated by top-seeded Louisville in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament 71-50 as the Wolverines finished 22-12. Michigan State plays at top-seeded and defending national champion Notre Dame this evening in a second round game.
