COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The new Coldwater youth baseball and softball diamonds in Heritage Park were officially opened Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
City of Coldwater Community Enrichment Director Julie Santure said the five diamonds will be sponsored by ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital, Coldwater Orthodontics, Sekisui Voltek, Parrish Excavating, and Rampit.
There are other sponsor banners on the outfield fences.
The total project cost about $770,000. The diamonds will be put to use right away as the youth baseball and softball seasons in Coldwater are scheduled to start on Saturday.
The diamonds on Northshore Drive are west of the current adult softball complex.
They were constructed because the former Little League diamonds on Western Avenue are in the process of becoming the site of the new Lakeland Elementary fourth and fifth grade school building.
