ONSTED, MI (WTVB) -The Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team went 2-1 Saturday to finish third at the Onsted Invitational.
The Lady Cardinals opened the day with a 1-0 win over Adrian. Samantha Rodesiler had the lone goal of the game, assisted by Allison Miller. Emily Fagen made four saves in goal. including stopping a penalty kick.
Coldwater lost to eventual tournament champion Tecumseh in the semifinals 7-0. Fagen had nine saves in goal, while Taylor Robinson had six.
In the third place game, Samantha Rodesiler scored both goals as Coldwater defeated host Onsted 2-1. Assists came from Amber Sunderland and Allison Miller. Emily Fagen made two saves in goal.
The Lady Cardinals are now 5-13-2 on the season, and will host Hastings in junior varsity and varsity action (5:00 p.m./6:30 p.m.) Monday in the Interstate 8 Conference Silver Division Tournament. They will play at Battle Creek Central Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. to begin the MHSAA district tournament.
