COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved a request Wednesday to create a new district position of School Psychologist Coordinator.
Special Education Director Darrin Adair said the position is being created in order to lower the ratio of school psychologists to students in the BISD, which is currently one for every 1,900 students.
In motioning for its approval, Board member John Bolton said the proposal was well thought out and he felt the ratio of school psychologists to district students was to high.
The board then approved David Terrasi of Saginaw to fill a vacant school psychologist position for the 2019-2020 school year at a salary of over $74,000.
Adair said Terrasi has 21 years of experience as a school psychologist.
Terrasi plans to relocate to Branch County. The Eastern Michigan University graduate has worked in the Saginaw Intermediate School District for the past eight years. Before that he worked six years for the Saginaw Public School District.
