COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country will be honored once again on Memorial Day with several events in Branch County.
A Memorial Day service will take place in downtown Coldwater starting at 8:30 a.m. A parade of walking and motorized units will then head west after the ceremony. The motorized portion of the parade will continue to the U.S. 12 bridge where the Lost At Sea Dedication will be held at around 9:45 a.m.
Services in the old section of Oak Grove Cemetery are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.. The Gathering of Flags War Memorial ceremony on Flag Hill will start at 10:45 a.m.
WTVB AM 1590 and FM 95.5 will have live coverage of the ceremonies.
The Village of Union City and the Union City Chamber of Commerce will once again host a Memorial Day Parade and a Cemetery Service. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Union City High School parking lot. It will extend through downtown Union City and end at Riverside Cemetery. There will be pauses at the North Broadway Street Bridge to allow for a ceremony to honor the Navy and Coast Guard and for a wreath placement at the Civil War Memorial by the First Congregational Church.
The Quincy American Legion Post will once again host Quincy’s annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will starts Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Quincy American Legion Post. It will then head west on U.S. 12 to West Street. There will be a ceremony honoring fallen soldiers after the parade at Lakeview Cemetery. Organizers are still looking for non-political parade units.
