COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater upset #1 ranked Richland Gull Lake 4-3 Tuesday night to advance to the Division 2 district final. The Cardinals will take on third ranked Marshall Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Harper Creek.
Coldwater scored 4:43 into the game on a goal by Amine Mohammed, assisted by Mubarak Said. Said scored three minutes later after a mistake on a pass back to the Gull Lake goalkeeper, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
Gull Lake got a goal back before the halftime break, then scored at the 32:09 and 25:03 marks of the second half to take a 3-2 lead.
The Cardinals tied the score on a 25 yard direct kick by Mubarak Said with 23:50 to play, then got the game winning goal from Amine Mohammed with 13:34 to play.
Ahmed Salem made eight saves in goal, as Gull Lake outshot Coldwater 14-8.
The Cardinals improved their record to 13-7 with the win. Gull Lake finishes their season at 17-1-1.
