TECUMSEH, MI (WTVB) – Bronson Community Schools Superintendent Rick Hilderley has been selected by the school board for the Tecumseh Public Schools to be one of six candidates they will interview next week for that district’s Superintendent position.
Hilderely will be the first candidate to be interviewed next Thursday, September 19 at 5:00 p.m.. The interviews will be open to the public and have been scheduled to be conducted next Thursday and Friday nights, with three candidates being interviewed each evening.
The Board is expected to identify finalists for the next round of interviews after they talk with the six candidates.
The Bronson Board of Education hired Hilderley as the district’s Superintendent in June 2017. Hilderley was among over 30 applicants for the Bronson job which became open when Teresa Belote was hired as the Superintendent of the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District.
Hilderley previously worked in the Tecumseh Public Schools district as a elementary and middle school teacher between 1990 and 1998, and as a elementary and middle school principal between 1998 and 2017.
The resumes for all six candidates were posted on line by Tecumseh Public Schools. Hilderley said in his summary, “I am an experienced superintendent and administrator with rich ties to Tecumseh Public Schools, eager to work within the community to restore trust and confidence in the district.”
The Tecumseh school district has gone through a tremendous amount of turmoil in the last couple of years. Four school board members were recalled last November. The new board then cut ties with Superintendent Kelly Coffin last January. Since that time, the district has had four interim Superintendents.
