QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Early detection of a fire by a nearby resident and quick work by the Quincy Fire Department possibly prevented major damage at the Quincy Middle School Saturday afternoon.
Smoke could be seen coming from the awning above the Fulton Street entrance of the school when Quincy firefighters arrived.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the area of origin.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Quincy fire officials say it was not intentionally set.
Three engine and a ladder truck responded. Assistance was provided by Life Care Ambulance and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
