CLEVELAND, OH (WTVB) – Yasiel Puig singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Indians edged the Detroit Tigers 2-1 in Cleveland Wednesday night.
Carlos Santana singled in the other Tribe run in the third to tie the game at one. Adam Cimber got the win in relief.
Detroit’s Jose Cisnero was charged with an unearned run in the 10th to fall to 0-and-4 with the loss.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly by Victor Reyes.
Cleveland has won 16 straight games against Detroit and is 17-and-1 this season with one more to play. Tigers starter Spencer Turnbull had a strong outing but did not figure in the decision after allowing one run on six hits and striking out eight in five innings.
In tonight’s series finale, Daniel Norris goes to the mound for the Tigers against the Indians’ Mike Clevinger.
