QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Village Council awarded a bid of over $439,000 to Parrish Excavating on Tuesday for the reconstruction of Church Street which is part of the expansion project at Speedrack Products Group.
The bid was under the engineering estimate for the project which was about $500,000.
Parrish plans to use a half dozen subcontractors on the project which is being assisted by a $325,000 Michigan Department of Transportation grant.
Due to increased demand, Speedrack needs additional manufacturing capacity. To accommodate an expansion in Quincy, changes to their commercial vehicle access were required.
Additional loading dock locations are part of the expansion. Church Street is being reconstructed between Cole and Broughton streets to bring it up to all-season standards to accommodate commercial vehicles.
In other business, Police Chief Jeremy Burch announced the hiring of Erin Hamilton Crites as a full time officer. Her hiring fills a vacancy which left the department one officer short.
The Village Council held an in person meeting for the second straight month in a pavilion at the Village Park. There are plans to hold meetings outdoors as long as the weather allows for it.
