PLYMOUTH, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team finished 16th Saturday in an invitational meet at Plymouth Canton which featured over 100 gymnasts competing in two divisions.
The competition featured ten teams that competed in last year’s MHSAA Finals.
Coldwater posted 132.625 points and were just 0.05 away from besting the host team Plymouth Canton and only 1 point shy of 14th place Bloomfield Hills.
Every single Lady Cardinal gymnast earned a Regional Qualifying score at the meet and sophomore Leah Goodwin earned a medal with a tenth place finish on the vault. Coldwater has consistently scored over 130 points all season, a feat that has never been accomplished in the history of the Gymnastics program. The team has set a goal to score over 130 points for the entire season and set a new standard for Cardinal Gymnastics.
Coldwater’s Abby Travelbee was 17th on the uneven bars. McKenna Hantz was 26th on the balance beam, Goodwin tied for 12th in floor exercise as she tied her best mark of the season at 9.05.
Besides Goodwin’s tenth place finish, Travelbee was 19th on the vault.
Coldwater has a busy week getting ready for their big Stick It For a Cure Invitational on Saturday February 8th. The gymnasts will host their final session of youth lessons on Tuesday night. On Wednesday they compete against the Tecumseh Indians in their next league matchup at home starting at 6PM. The public is invited to attend their festivities Wednesday night and Saturday to watch the Cardinals at the historic 10th Annual Stick It Event.
