EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State University brass is back in East Lansing after a trip to Ohio to meet with a football coaching candidate.
The Detroit Free Press reports the Spartans met with Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell yesterday. He’s considered the front-runner, but no deal is in place.
San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh reportedly turned down a request to interview for the head coaching job at Michigan State following Mark Dantonio’s retirement.
Saleh just completed his third season as defensive coordinator of the 49ers and helped them reach the Super Bowl after San Francisco finished second in the NFL in total defense during the regular season.
