COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team defeated Haslett United 136 to 124.05 Tuesday night in their final home dual meet of the season. Coldwater moved to 6-1 in their season and finished just one point shy of breaking their own school record.
Leah Goodwin won the vault with a score of 9.0. Abby Travelbee earned a third place finish.
Coldwater recorded their highest team total of the season on the uneven bars with 34.125 points. The Cardinals made it a team effort with their top five individuals scoring eight points or higher. Leading the way was Layla Schoch, who claimed the top honors with a season best score of 8.7. Goodwin was second with a personal best score of 8.55 points.
Abby Travelbee was first in the balance beam with a personal best score with 9.075 points. Mckenna Hantz claimed third place.
Coldwater closed out the meet with their highest event total on the floor exercise, tallying 35.375 points to seal the victory. Goodwin finished her night with a score of 9.2 and first place honors. Layla Schoch was second with her mark of 9.05 points.
In the All-Around competition, Travelbee finished with a first place score of 34.65 ponts. Goodwin finished in second place with 34.55 points.
Coldwater will travel to Jackson Thursday for the South Central Gymnastics League Conference Championships. The Cardinals are currently in second place behind the host team of the Jackson Area United High Schools.
