LAKELAND, FL (WTVB) – The Tigers lost to the Astros 11-1 yesterday in Grapefruit League play. Matt Boyd gave up one run on two hits while striking out three in two innings. Victor Reyes knocked in Detroit’s only run in the third inning.
Houston’s Jose Altuve was loudly booed when he was introduced for his spring training debut, cheered when he struck out and called a cheater by several fans. Quite a difference from past years, when the diminutive All-Star second baseman was among the most popular players in the majors.
