RIVES JUNCTION, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school basketball, three Coldwater players finished in double figures as the Cardinals got back on the right track with a 54-37 victory at Jackson Northwest Tuesday night.
Coldwater jumped on the winless Mounties in the first quarter as they built a 16-6 lead. They increased their margin to 34-18 at halftime and wound up outscoring Northwest 20-19 in the second half.
Dylan Targgart led Coldwater with a game-high 17 points while Spencer Rodesiler had 11 points, five rebounds and four steals while Brandon Downs had 10 points and four assists. Ethan Crabtree also grabbed five rebounds.
Coldwater improved to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Interstate 8 Conference.
Coldwater also won the JV game 42-26. Aaron May led Coldwater with 10 points. Northwest won the freshman game 58-24.
The Quincy Orioles turned in another stingy performance on the defensive end and Will Dunn erupted for 26 points as the Orioles defeated Adrian Madison 42-31 on Tuesday night in the Coolest Gym in Michigan. Madison only shot 28 percent from the floor. Quincy also had a 34-19 edge in rebounding.
Points were hard to come by in the first half as the Orioles led 18-12 at halftime. A 12-6 third quarter allowed Quincy to open up some space and improve their record to 6-1.
Kyler Economou came close to another double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds. Dunn and Evan Coon both grabbed seven rebounds.
