ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) – Defensive end Aaron Lewis has transferred from the University of Michigan to Rutgers.
Lewis entered the transfer portal last week. He wrote on social media that he and his family decided it was best for him to attend a school closer to his home.
The freshman was a three-star prospect who played for Williamston High School in New Jersey, just about 90 minutes away from Rutgers.
The Outland Trophy watch list includes three football players from the state of Michigan. University of Michigan offensive tackle Jaylen Mayfield along with Western Michigan University guard Mike Caliendo and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore have been named to the list.
The Outland Trophy has been given to the best interior lineman in college annually since 1946.
