MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – A peaceful protest against police brutality which included members of local law enforcement agencies was held in downtown Marshall Tuesday evening.
WWMT-TV reports the Marshall Police Department led the way for protesters. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was also involved.
Pictures posted on social media showed a rather large gathering of people of all ages.
The march started at the Brooks Memorial Fountain before it went down Michigan Avenue.
A moment of silence was held at the post office.
Event organizer Nicola DeBrabander posted on the events Facebook page, “there shall be NO Violence, NO animosity toward law enforcement and no breaking of laws. Let’s have our voices heard. Anyone violating these terms will be asked to leave.”
WWMT-TV also reports a few people did not take part in the protest and carried rifles to prevent the destruction of property.
