MARSHALL, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – An arrest has been made in Calhoun County in the Allison Sargent homicide investigation.
Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley says 27-year-old Jose Juarez of Bedford Township is facing five charges including a count of open murder in the death of the Pennfield Township woman who was reported missing on March 5 by her fiance.
Her burned body was found along River Road in Emmett Township two days later. Hinkley said the Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and police got a break on March 10.when Sargent’s vehicle was found in Detroit. The interior had been burned.
Hinkley says investigators think Sargent was shot to death in a residence on Timber Lane in Bedford Township before her body was taken to the location in Emmett Township where she was found)
Juarez is also facing two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, mutilation of a body and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He was already in the Calhoun County Jail on a parole hold through the Michigan Department of Corrections.
The investigation into Sargent’s death is still ongoing.
