BATTLE CREEK, MI. – (WTVB) – The second season for boys high school basketball starts Monday night in the State of Michigan.
Coldwater and Quincy are the top seeds in area districts under a new format being used for the first time by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
The Cardinals are the #1 seed for the Division One district at Battle Creek Lakeview. The Cardinals will face Kalamazoo Loy Norrix at 5:00 p.m. Monday in the first game of a doubleheader. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB as well as on line at www.wtvbam.com starts at 4:45 p.m..
The second game at 7:00 p.m. will have second seeded Gull Lake against Battle Creek Central. The winner of the Coldwater-Loy Norrix game will face Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday..
The winner of the Gull Lake-Battle Creek Central game will play Sturgis in the first Wednesday night semifinal. The finals on Friday will start at 7:00 p.m..
Quincy is the #1 seed for the Division Three District tournament on the Orioles home court. In the five team district, Union City will face second seeded Centreville in the only game on Monday at 6:00 p.m..
The winner plays Bronson on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. followed by Quincy against White Pigeon at 7:30 p.m.. The finals on Friday will start at 6:00 p.m..
Tekonsha will be in the MHSAA Division Four District tournament at Litchfield. After a first round bye, Tekonsha will face either Pansophia Academy or Hillsdale Academy in the semifinals.
The 46th Al Clyne Coldwater Exchange Club Freshman Basketball Tournament wrapped up on Saturday at the Legg Middle School. Coldwater lost to Sturgis 46-37 in the consolation game. Donte Klork led Coldwater with 25 points.
Battle Creek Central defeated Marshall 53-46 in the runner up game while Lakeview won the championship game over Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 60-51. Ethan Bagent of Lakeview was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
