COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bryan, Ohio woman was ordered to pay over $1,100 in restitution on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after she entered guilty pleas to taking money from four local bank accounts belonging to the Girls Scouts of America.
36-year-old Kathy Jo Contreras admitted her guilt to charges of attempted forgery, attempted uttering and publishing and attempted identify theft.
A total of 33 charges were dismissed by Branch County Prosecutor’s Office in exchange for her guilty pleas.
She will have to be on probation for two years. Contreras was given an 11 month jail sentence with credit for 82 days already served. The jail time was suspended over probation.
Including the restitution, Contreras will have to pay over $1,800 in fines and court costs.
She was accused of withdrawing a total of $1,280 from the bank accounts on 11 occasions without authorization.
Contreras was charged and arrested following a Michigan State Police investigating.
