LANSING, MI – (WTVB) – Friday will be the last day of classes for students in the State of Michigan for at least three weeks.
With the spread of coronavirus, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced late Thursday night that all public and private K-12 schools will be shut down from this Monday, March 16 until April 6.
The governor’s announcement came after the state has gone from two confirmed cases of coronavirus on Wednesday to 12 by Thursday night and Whitmer says will be more coming.
It was not immediately known how much later into the summer schools will have to be in session due to the three-week closure.
For school districts in Branch County it essentially means four weeks away from the classroom, because of their scheduled Spring Break April 6-10. There is no word yet on whether that will be modified.
