BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A long time Bronson High School teacher, coach, and mentor who impacted many lives over the years and bettered the community lost his battle with cancer on Thursday. Keith Tracy died yesterday at his home at the age of 81.
An outstanding all-state athlete at Bronson High, Keith return to his hometown in 1965 after starting his teaching career 6 years earlier in Bridgman. A Western Michigan University graduate and US Army veteran, he taught physical education and social studies at BHS for 21 years and coached several sports for a decade.
Tracy was also in charge of the Beggars Recycling Center with his Foreign Study Club where students could earn money toward their travel to Europe. They also ran the food booth at Bronson Polish Festival Days big tent. He chaperoned many students and adults to Europe for over 20 years. He taught Driver’s Education for over 35 years, mostly through the Branch Area Career Center.
A funeral service for Keith Tracy will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Bronson High School Gymnasium. Visitation will be Sunday at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or Bronson Fire Department. Keith requested casual attire for this service with no suits or ties.
