BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals swept the Union City Chargers 19-0 and 19-3 in a girls softball doubleheader on Thursday as Coldwater’s Mya Porter threw a no hitter in the opening game.
Porter struck out 11 as the game was shortened to five innings by the run rule.
Coldwater collected eight extra base hits led by Rylie VanAken as she had two doubles and a triple. Mackenzie Searing drove in four runs.
Coldwater took control of the second game with a 10 run first inning and a nine run second frame.
Porter had an inside-the-park grand slam home run and six RBI’s. VanAken and Searing both had three hits. Searing also drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher.
Madison Krummrey had two singles and a RBI for the Chargers.

Quincy swept future Big 8 Conference rival Stockbridge 10-2 and 11-1.
Brooke Hartman was the complete game winner in the opener. Deziray Skirka singled, tripled and hit an inside the park home run while driving in two runs. Kaylee Modert singled twice. Payton Gross doubled and drove in two.
Second game winning pitcher Hannah Brown struck out six batters and allowed just one run. Modert had two singles and a double as she drove in two runs. Alyssa McCavit added a triple. Quincy’s record is now 10-5.

Bronson was swept in a non-conference doubleheader by Buchanan 10-2 and 20-2. The Vikings only collected six hits in the twinbill.
Ciara Blankenship doubled in the first game while Brealyn Lasky had two hits and a RBI in the nightcap.
