COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school wrestling Wednesday, Coldwater scored a 45-18 Interstate Eight victory at home over Jackson Lumen Christi. Posting wins for the host Cardinals were Hamza Muflihi, Daniel Pino, Sean Radtke, Ezra Lewis, Zack Horter, Griffin Olmstead, Jesse Miller, and Sam DeMeester. Coldwater’s next match is Saturday at the Bill Evans Memorial tournament at Battle Creek Central.
Bronson picked up two wins last night at home in their BCS Quad meet. The Vikings, who are ranked 7th in the state this week in Division 4, defeated Niles Brandywine 53-23 and New Buffalo 66-12. Going 2-0 on the night for Bronson were Brendan Withington, Eion Depaz, Ruger Ranney, Isaac Robertson, Cole Houtz, David Erwin, Chase Gibson, Nathan Caudill, and Joey Losinski. The Vikings will also be competing Saturday in the tournament at Battle Creek Central.
Wednesday in high school bowling, the Coldwater boys and girls squads both defeated visiting Marshall 30-0 at Midway Lanes. The boys team stayed unbeaten in the Interstate Eight with a high game on Wednesday of 290 rolled by Alec Keplinger. The high score for the girls, who improved their record to 5-2, was a 215 by Samantha Youse.
The Coldwater boys JV team beat Marshall 24-6 with a 157 for Bryton Philson. There was no girls JV match with the Redhawks.
Tonight in high school sports, in varsity girls basketball, it’s Quincy at Homer while Bronson is at White Pigeon. Also, Tekonsha hosts Litchfield. And in gymnastics, it’s Coldwater at Parma Western.
Yesterday in middle school girls basketball, Coldwater lost 3 out 4 games against Marshall with the lone win for the Lady Cardinals at home in the 8th grade A game. They beat the Redhawks 30-26 with 13 points and 9 rebounds for Carlee Crabtree. Marshall won the B game 15-7 with 7 steals and 3 points for Kaitlin Meyers.
In the 7th grade games at Marshall, the Coldwater A team lost 20-17 with 11 points and 7 rebounds for Alyssa Bach. The B team fell 23-20 with 12 points for Joselyn Salto.
The Union City 8th grade team lost at home to Springport 37-10 with 5 points and 4 steals for Kaitlyn Brinkman.
