ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) – The Lions return to the practice field today after a day off yesterday. Training camp will move from the team’s Allen Park facility to Ford Field tomorrow for Family Day, where fans will have a chance watch drills and a mock game. The event will also feature appearances from Lions alumni, giveaways and family friendly activities.
In Canton, Ohio, former Michigan State kicker Morten Andersen will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame tomorrow. Andersen played for the Spartans from 1978 to 1981 and still holds the Big Ten record for the longest field goal of 63 yards against Ohio State. He was drafted by New Orleans Saints in 1982 and also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. During his 25-year NFL career, he scored 2,544 points on 565 field goals and 849 extra points. Andersen is joined in the Class of 2017 by running back Terrell Davis, safety Kenny Easley, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, defensive end Jayson Taylor, running back LaDainian Tomlinson and quarterback Kurt Warner.
Last night in Canton, Sam Irwin-Hill kicked the go-ahead field goal in the fourth quarter as the Dallas Cowboys rallied to drop the Arizona Cardinals 20-18 at the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Rico Gathers caught three passes for 59 yards and a score for Dallas. Kellen Moore threw for 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the winning effort. Blaine Gabbert was solid in the start for the Cards, going 11 for 14 for 185 yards. Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington had rushing touchdowns for Arizona.
