COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County motorists navigated Thursday morning’s icy roads with no serious traffic accidents reported by local police agencies. The worst of the crashes apparently was last night when two pickup trucks collided north of Coldwater at Marshall and Jonesville Roads shortly after 9 pm. One of the drivers was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County to be checked out. Michigan State Police are investigating. No names were released.
Calhoun County Deputies have released the name of a woman who was killed when the SUV she was riding in slid on an icy road yesterday morning. The vehicle crashed into a tree near the intersection of 13-mile and K-Drive south in Fredonia Township at about 8:30 am. Ashley Houle-Redner was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Christopher Hayes had to be pried out of the wreckage and was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo in critical condition. The 24-years olds lived in Ceresco. Police say it appears that Hayes was driving too fast for conditions.
