COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite over a foot of snow that fell over the weekend, Branch County students will only miss one day of school because of this latest snowstorm. Branch County Road Commission crews worked throughout the day Monday to clear roads, and City of Coldwater street crews came back in a 2 am Tuesday to begin removing snow from the downtown area.
City Manager Jeff Budd estimates that it will take several days before all the snow is removed from sidewalks and parking spaces along Chicago Street.
While a number of schools in Calhoun, Eaton, Clinton, and Shiawassee counties are closed Tuesday, all schools in Branch County are open. The Battle Creek Public Schools, Battle Creek Catholic Schoos, and Battle Creek Lakeview, along with the Kalamazoo Public Schools and Richland Gull Lake schools in Kalamazoo County also closed. The Pittsford School District in Hillsdale County is operating on a two-hour delay.
