COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s never happened before in Branch County, a woman appointed to serve on the County’s Veterans Affairs Board. That changed yesterday when Stacey Hapner of Quincy was named by the Branch County Board of Commissioners to fill a vacant four year term on Board.
Hapner is a Navy Veteran, joining the Seabees in 2009 a year after graduating from high school and her 4 year enlistment included a 6-month tour in Afghanistan constructing bases for the troop surge as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. She’s currently a student at the Kellogg Community College Grahl Center in Coldwater where she helped establish a local network to communicate information about veterans affairs and the G.I. Bill.
Hapner is a native of New York State and she met her husband Tyler, who is from Coldwater, while the two were serving together in Afghanistan.
