COLDWATER (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, it’s a busy slate of Boys and Girls basketball coming up tonight and we’ll get to the schedule in a moment.
The only event happening for county schools on Monday was Coldwater bowling and in the Cardinals sweep on the road over Jackson Lumen Christi, Coldwater junior Nick Galliers became the first CHS bowler in recent league action to roll a perfect game with his 300 achieved for the junior varsity in their win over the Titans. Galliers finished with a 507, two game series. In the Boys varsity victory, the high score was 236 for Brady Omo followed by Shawn Johnson with a 225. The Girls varsity was led by Cassidy Wolff with a 202 while Alysia VanWormer rolled a 190. Both varsity squads improved their records to 8-3. There was no Girls JV match yesterday.
Tonight in Boys and Girls basketball, in the Interstate Eight, it’s Coldwater vs. Pennfield with the Boys playing at Pennfield and the Girls in Coldwater. We’ll have the Boys action on the radio and you can also listen on-line at wtvbam.com. with our pre-game show beginning at 6:45. In a Boys only matchup, it’s a battle of teams with undefeated league records with the Big 8 showdown in Quincy as the host Orioles put their 14-0 record on the line against the 11-3 Concord Yellow Jackets. Both schools are 9-0 in the conference. Quincy showed up in the rankings this week for the first time this season with the Orioles 11th in the Associated Press Class-C poll, just a single vote outside the Top Ten while the Detroit Free Press has Quincy ranked tenth. Also in Boys only play tonight, it’s Bronson at Centreville and Union City at Homer while Tekonsha hosts Battle Creek St. Philip. The Tekonsha Girls team lost last night at St. Philip 63-14.
Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s Quincy Boys basketball coach Scott Rodesiler.
In middle school sports yesterday, in Girls basketball, Bronson swept a pair of games at Cassopolis. The 8th grade team beat the Rangers 44-24 with 16 points for Ashton Wronikowski. Bronson took the 7th grade game 38-25 with 18 points and 12 rebounds for Keona Salesman along with 14 points for Alanna Mayer.
