COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As early morning temperatures bottomed out at -18 degrees Friday, schools across the area decided to close to keep kids out of the cold. The closing list included Coldwater, Quincy, Bronson, Union City, Pansophia Academy, St Charles Borromeo, and St Mary’s Assumption School, along with the Branch Intermediate School District.
Most schools in Calhoun, Jackson, and St Joseph counties were also closed. In Hillsdale County, the Pittsford School District had originally planned on a two hour delay, but then decided to close because school buses would not start in the extreme cold.
