COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Less than a week after dozens were left homeless due to a fire that destroyed a portion of the Coldwater Inn motel, emergency services officials say all the families have found housing. The emergency housing center set up at the Coldwater School District’s former Franklin Alternative High School in Girard this past week was officially closed down Saturday at 6 pm.
According to Branch County United Way Executive Director Judy Krzeminski, all the dislocated families have found housing, although for some it’s not permanent housing. A number of the rooms of the Coldwater Inn had been converted to efficiency apartments, so entire families lived there.
Donations are still being accepted through the Branch County United Way Disaster Fund set up at Southern Michigan Bank and Trust.
