COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school golf, Coldwater hosted the opening Interstate Eight Conference Jamboree of the season at the Coldwater Golf Course and Coldwater came in 2nd place behind Jackson Lumen Christi. The first place Titans’ team score was 153 while the Cardinals runner-up total was 158. Coldwater’s Cameron Ruge shot an even par 36 to share co-medalist honors. The other scores for the Cardinals were 40 for Nathan Waterbury and Stephan Boston, 42 for Nolan Duda, and a 43 for Keagan Dwyer and Nick Galliers. Coldwater will host the Cardinal Invitational tomorrow with 18 teams participating.
Wednesday in track, Bronson’s boys and girls teams lost at Centreville with the Vikings dropping the boys meet 75.66 to 61.33 while the girls were defeated 101 to 31. Double winners for the Bronson Boys team were Eric Toledo in the shot put and discus and Kyle Roberts in the 100 and 200 meter dash.
In a Big 8 Tri-Meet at Union City, the host Chargers finished second in the boys competition behind Springport while in the girls action, Reading took first place with Union City third. In the boys meet, Union City’s Jalen Boes was a double winner in the long jump and 200 meter dash. Union City also finished first in the 400 and 800 meter relays. Aaron Watson won the 100 meter dash while Thomas Anderson won the 400 meter run. For the girls, Union City’s April Inman won the pole vault and Rachel Wing won the shot put.
On today’s high school sports schedule, in baseball and softball, Coldwater plays its Interstate Eight Conference openers at home against Marshall and we’ll have the baseball on the radio with our live coverage joining the doubleheader in progress with the broadcast beginning around 5:30 p.m. following the Evening Journal. Also in baseball and softball, it’s Bronson at Kalamazoo Christian. In girls soccer, Quincy has a 5:30 p.m. match at home against Jackson Christian. In boys golf, Bronson hosts a BCS East Jamboree at the Bella Vista Golf Course. And in girls tennis, Coldwater hosts Pennfield while it’s Bronson at Lake Michigan Catholic.
