LANSING, MI (WTVB) – State school Superintendent Mike Flanagan has lifted 27 out of over 250 on a statewide list of schools that were under the “priority” supervision of the Michigan School Reform/Redesign Office for being in the bottom five percent in student achievement. Branch County currently has no schools with the “Priority” designation, but among those in the region no longer under this spotlight are Waldron Middle School in Hillsdale County and Kalamazoo’s Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts. The list is a provision of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
